Mountain Gut Busters

This post is from one of our members who is not a regular contributor. Big thanks to Shadow for putting this article together and taking the pictures. It has been a little quiet on the blog; Christmas is a big period down under and it’s not until after the 26th of January that things get back to normal. Particularly for the miniature gaming community as our biggest event Cancon happens over the long weekend that occurs in late January. I’ll stop jabbering and now onto Shadow’s article on his Ogres.

The models are from the newly released Games workshop team, the Fire Mountain Gut Busters. The team has two model types, the Ogres and the Gnoblars. The standard box will provide you with four Ogres and twelve Gnoblars which is enough to make a starting team. To complete the team, you will need to find someone to split the second box with. The Ogre models in the box come in two forms, one running or kicking and the other standing. There are multiple heads and arms for the models, but a disappointing thing is that the arms can’t be used with both body types. This can be overcome with converting the shoulders, but this could be problematic when playing Blood bowl with them. The Gnoblar models really make the team in my opinion, there are several options to have a unique Gnoblar model for a team. The Gnoblars have a comical and mischievous appearance that fits with their blood bowl ability.

The team’s colours which are Red and Pewter are based off the NFL team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The main colours used for the team are P3 Cyrx Bane base and P3 Khador Red base. The painting style is based off Foundry Miniatures Painting guide by Kevin Dallimore that uses a three-layer method to paint models.

Overall, I’m happy with the results for the Ogre team as they get ready for Season 22 of the Melbourne Blood Bowl League.
